The Geopark Villuercas-Ibores-Jara, UNESCO World Heritage
The General Assembly of UNESCO adopted at its last meeting in Paris the designation as UNESCO WorldGeopark of the Villuercas-Ibores-Jara Geopark. Within the Geopark is located the Cerro San Cristobal de Logrosán geosite, object of the LOGROTIN project. With this recent UNESCO World Geopark denomination, Extremadura now has five spaces with the title: the Monumental City of Cáceres (1986); the Royal Monastery of Santa María de Guadalupe (1993), the Archaeological site of Mérida (1993) and the Monfragüe Biosphere Reserve (2003).
